Thank you for visiting our web-site. I want to take this opportunity to tell you a little about the work the Lord has called me to. I have been pastoring for 12 years. I first began this ministry in 1996 at the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Summersville, West Virginia, USA. It was while I was the pastor there that the Lord matured me in the faith and began to teach me how important it is to maintain doctrinal integrity. There I learned the truth contained in such verses as Jeremiah 6:16, "Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls." This has been my motto throughout my ministry. Many modern day pastors are willing to water down the harder doctrines of the Bible to appeal to more people, but I have seen in my ministry that the Lord has blessed when I just stick with "Thus saith the Lord." I maintained this same view when I moved from West Virginia to Bardwell, Kentucky where I became the Pastor of the Beechgrove Missionary Baptist Church. There I found that God's people will always respond favourably when you stick with God's word. While I was pastoring in Kentucky I learned that the Bible is the same no matter what part of the country you live in and that when you stick with the Word of God, God will bless you every time. Although I had every intention of spending many years in Kentucky as a pastor, the Lord had other plans and in 2000 He began dealing with me about coming to Australia and starting a church. After many sleepless nights I surrendered to the Lord's will and announce my call to the country of Australia. It took almost a year and a half of work visiting churches before we had the financial stability to make the move across the world, but in April of 2002 I boarded a plane with my wife Patricia, my two daughters Savannah and Sydney, and my 18 month old son Garrett and began the long haul down under. After a short settling in period I began asking the Lord to lead me to the area He wanted me to start a church. After looking around my local area, the Lord impressed upon me to drive to the little community of Cobbitty. Upon entering this quaint little country town I knew right away this is where the Lord wanted me to begin. I stopped at the local public school and inquired into renting the school hall. The principle agreed and we are now in our 5th year of meeting in the same building.
As we began holding our services, little by little the Lord began to bring people to visit. Many did not stay, but I found that God's word is just as effective in Australia as it was in America and that when I just stick with His word, He blesses and it wasn't long before the Lord gave us souls for our labour. After more than five years in this area we do not have a large church, but by preaching God's word as He wrote it, we have seen this small flock mature and grow spiritually in our time here. I now have as much confidence in this church here as I did in the churches I pastored back in America. It has been a blessing to see God work in and through His word and so I would encourage you to come by and pay us a visit and see the difference the right kind of church can make in your life. You will find that we are a friendly group who believes church is a place to learn about our God and what He has done for us and it is not a place we come to be entertained. We do not have any play groups. We do not have puppet shows, nor do we spend our time singing world music that appeals to the flesh of men. But what we do offer those who come to our church is strong doctrinal teaching, the singing of the old hymns of the faith and an atmosphere where you can worship God in spirit and in truth.
